August 30: Remember and Celebrate

Let’s Start!

To our Parents/Guardians: The Bible talks about many feasts that God’s people would celebrate throughout the year to remember [looking back at something God had done] and celebrate [praising God, and looking ahead expectant for what he would to]. Here at EGC Kids, we host Remember & Celebrate weekends where we learn about the feasts, and apply the same principles to OUR lives! Today, we’re learning about the Feast of Trumpets!

Let’s Watch!

** Parents:  This week’s video includes a craft (Constellation Cups!). If you want to make the craft with your children, you will need to gather the following supplies before watching the video (they’re all things you probably have at your house).

  • Paper cup (one per child)
  • Flashlight
  • Thumb Tack
  • Scissors (optional)
  • Glue stick (optional)
  • Pictures of constellations (optional)

Let’s Talk!

  • What is your favorite thing in God’s creation? The stars, sunsets, waterfalls, animals, mountains. . .
  • What does it mean that God is faithful? He never changes. He stays the same.
  • How does it make you feel to know that God, who created the world, and knows all there is to know about everything, ever, also knows you and loves you and wants to spend time with you? Pretty special!
  • Why is it important to remember that God never changes? We can believe that He’s good and that He loves us even when we sin, or when we are having a bad day, or when things don’t go how we want them to go.
  • If I gave you just one piece of a puzzle, would you be able to explain what the whole puzzle would look like when it was done? No! You can’t see the whole puzzle until the pieces are put together!
  • God sees the whole puzzle. He sees you, and exactly where you fit – because He made you!
  • Can you think of ways that you can be faithful? Doing what you say you will do, being a good friend to someone, remembering something important. . .
  • How has God been faithful to YOU?

Let’s Do!

Let’s Memorize!

What the Lord says is right and true. He is faithful in everything he does.

Psalm 33:4

Use this video to help you learn this week’s verse:

Let’s Pray!

Read Psalm 100:4-5 together, and then:

  • Praise God for who He is! He is mighty, faithful, loving, righteous, bigger than we could ever imagine. . .
  • Thank God for what He’s done: How has God been good to you? Where have you seen His faithfulness this week? This year? What are you thankful for today?

Let’s Bless!

Parents/Guardians, bless your child with this blessing:

May you trust in God’s unfailing love. May you always know, no matter what happens, that God hears you, loves you, and is faithful in all He does. May you see His faithfulness this week.
